Blair Castle, Whisky distillery and waterfalls

Departing Edinburgh, we travel north over the Forth Road Bridge, admiring one of Scotland's great engineering wonders. We continue moving into the Kingdom of Fife. We pass Perth, the medieval capital of Scotland, make a brief stop in the picturesque medieval town with its own Cathedral. We then continue into “a tree country” - Perthshire. We soon see a white castle nestled in the dramatic landscape. We discover Blair Castle, the ancient seat of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl and home to Europe's last remaining private army, the Atholl Highlander. It has been home to 19 generations of Stewarts and Murrays of Atholl. More than 30 rooms are on display, full of Scottish cultural history, architectural design, period furnishings, family portraits, landscape paintings and a colourful military past. After a short drive to our next destination, we visit the smallest Scotland’s distillery. We experience a real insight into the traditional methods of whisky making through a great tour which includes a taste of whisky and an audio-visual presentation. On the way back to Edinburgh we stop at fantastic woodland walk leading up to the magnificent waterfalls.
